Bishop Michael F. Burbidge calls Catholics to prayer and fasting

Bishop Michael F. Burbidge of the Diocese of Arlington is asking Catholics to participate in prayer and fasting throughout October to oppose two ballot initiatives in Virginia. Through the Catholics Vote No campaign, the bishop requested specific spiritual practices to support the effort.

On Fridays, the bishop asked the faithful to pray the Stations of the Cross and fast by eating only one full meal and no meat. On Sundays, he requested that people pray the Rosary and fast from social media for at least a few hours, particularly before and after Mass.
