Bishop of Urgell: Tots Sants i la Commemoració dels Fidels Difunts: memòria i esperança

Bishop Josep-Lluís of Urgell explained the distinct meanings of the consecutive liturgical days of All Saints and the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed.

In a message regarding the beginning of November, the bishop noted that All Saints, celebrated on November 1, is a feast of joy. The Church honors all those who have achieved the fullness of life with God, including officially recognized saints and the many anonymous men and women who lived the Gospel through simple faithfulness. He stated that holiness is expressed in daily life through acts of mercy, work for peace, and the care of others.

The bishop noted that the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed on November 2 shifts the focus to those who have died. This day serves to remember the names of the deceased, give thanks for shared lives, and pray for their eternal rest.
