Bishop Michael Router delivers homily during Installation Mass as Bishop of Derry

Bishop Michael Router addressed the Diocese of Derry during his installation mass, stating that the spiritual life of the diocese relies on prayer, devotion, and the liturgy. During his homily, Router noted that the local Church functions as a network of relationships and credited Bishop Donal McKeown for his pastoral care, which helped foster a culture of respect and affection between priests and the faithful.

Router expressed gratitude for the welcome he received while acknowledging the stress of moving to a new location. He told the congregation that he intends to begin his leadership by listening, noting that he recently held separate meetings with clergy and lay people involved in diocesan life to learn about the community.
