Bishop Vincent’s Homily for the Solemnity of All Saints 2026

Bishop Vincent Long Van Nguyen of Parramatta delivered a homily for the Solemnity of All Saints on October 31, 2026. During the liturgy, which included readings from Apoc 7:2-14, 1John 3:1-3, and Matthew 5:1-12, the bishop spoke about the nature of Christian sanctity.

The bishop stated that sainthood involves living ordinary lives with a Christian spirit rather than performing extraordinary feats. He noted that the celebration includes both officially canonized saints and those who lived lives of faithful service, including people known to individuals personally. He said these examples show that sanctity is possible in any circumstance or walk of life.

Bishop Long Van Nguyen described Christian discipleship as a generous response to the call to follow Christ to make a positive difference for others. He said discipleship is not about protecting personal interests, status, or security. Instead, he said the scriptures challenge believers to use their gifts in service to the kingdom through courageous and purposeful living.
