Caritas Internationalis publishes Commitments to Promote Local Leadership and Partnership

Caritas Internationalis has published a document outlining eleven commitments to strengthen locally led humanitarian action, development, and peacebuilding. The publication, prepared by the Caritas Internationalis General Secretariat, establishes a framework for member organizations to advance equitable partnerships and support local representation.

The commitments aim to improve access to funding and support capacity sharing among member organizations. According to the report, these actions are grounded in the principles of subsidiarity, solidarity, and autonomy, as well as the Caritas Internationalis Partnership Principles and Modus Operandi.

The document reaffirms the leadership of national and local Caritas organizations in responding to the specific needs and priorities of their communities. It calls on members to build relationships based on mutual trust and shared responsibility to ensure resources support sustainable local leadership.
