Cáritas Valencia continues support for communities two years after DANA floods

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Cáritas Valencia is continuing its support for people and communities affected by the October 2024 DANA floods. Through the second year of its "After the Water" action plan, the organization is working to strengthen community responses by analyzing local realities, coordinating with various agents, and identifying new needs for intervention.

The organization has assisted 25 979 affected individuals through 32 parish Cáritas teams. These teams have distributed 36 309 687 euros in aid across four categories: basic needs, housing, business recovery, and mobility.

Following the initial emergency response and the distribution of essential goods, the project has moved into a phase of community-based action. In more than ten affected towns, Cáritas is currently conducting assessments to launch new programs for minors and their families, as well as support in emotional and socio-occupational areas.
