Bishop Claudio Lurati celebrated the heavenly birthday of Sister Marie de Bethany in Alexandria

Bishop Claudio Lurati, the Latin Church bishop in Egypt, celebrated the heavenly birthday of Sister Marie de Bethany at the Mer de Dieu sisters' monastery and school in Alexandria. Sister Marie, a member of the Mer de Dieu sisters, died in 1945. The celebration included several sisters, faculty members, and students, with Brother Sherif Atallah serving at the altar and leading hymns.

The cause for the beatification of Sister Marie de Bethany is currently in the Roman phase before the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints at the Vatican. This follows the conclusion of the diocesan phase conducted by the Apostolic Vicariate of the Latin Church in Egypt. During the service, participants prayed for the intercession of the servant of God for her religious order and the Church, and for the progress of her cause toward sainthood.
