Catholic school students celebrate Our Lady, Queen of Peace through Rosary poster contest

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Approximately 1,400 students from 15 Catholic elementary schools in the Diocese of Scranton participated in the first Our Lady, Queen of Peace Rosary Poster contest. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade created artwork based on the theme of bringing peace to families, communities, and the world.

The contest encouraged students and their families to pray the Rosary during October. Charlene Haggerty, assistant superintendent of Catholic schools, said the project intended to inspire devotion to the Blessed Mother and help children recognize how to act as instruments of peace in their homes and schools.

Diocesan staff judged the submissions on Oct. 8 at the Diocesan Pastoral Center in Scranton. Winners were selected across three grade-level divisions.
