More than 130 Catholics honor St. Jude Thaddeus in Kingston

More than 130 Catholics gathered at St. Mary Church in Kingston on Oct. 28 for a special Mass and social event honoring St. Jude Thaddeus. The celebration, coordinated by Mirella Rosas of the St. Jude Thaddeus sodality, focused on maintaining the devotion of Mexican and other Latin American communities to the apostle.

Father Arthur Rojas, pastor of St. Mary-Sacred Heart Parish, noted that the number of children participating in the liturgical and social activities doubled compared to the previous year. The sodality encourages children to follow Hispanic customs by dressing as St. Jude Thaddeus or Mother Mary.

The parish will hold its second annual Vigil of All Saints on Saturday, Oct. 31. The event includes a 7 p.m. Vigil Mass for the Solemnity of All Saints, followed by refreshments and prizes for children.
