Diocese of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino to host international meeting

The Diocese of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino will host an international meeting titled "Pace disarmata e disarmante" from October 25 to 27, 2026. Organized by the Community of Sant'Egidio in collaboration with the diocese and the Famiglia Francescana, the event marks the 40th anniversary of the meeting called for by Pope John Paul II in 1986.

The three day gathering will include 24 thematic forums covering topics such as peace, disarmament, economy, youth, migration, and environment. Tonio Dell’Olio, president of the diocesan commission for the Spirit of Assisi, stated that the local Church is called to demonstrate credibility through daily dialogue, prayer, and supporting victims of war.

As part of the commemorations, the diocesan commission is organizing additional events. An exhibition titled "Via Crucis Gaza – restiamo umani," which focuses on the suffering of war-affected populations and human dignity, was scheduled to open on October 22 at the Galleria dei Vescovi in the Santuario della Spogliazione.
