Bishop José Luis Retana appointed Lino Herrero Prieto as vicar general of the Diocese of Salamanca on Friday, October 2. Herrero, a member of the Mariannhill missionaries, will officially take office on Wednesday, October 7, at 10:00 a.m. at the Casa de la Iglesia.

Herrero succeeds Tomás Durán Sánchez, a diocesan priest whose resignation as vicar general and moderator of the Curia the bishop accepted on May 7.

Before this appointment, Herrero served as the archpriest of Vitigudino-Ledesma-Robliza, where he ministered to seven rural communities and the pastoral needs of the shrine of Nuestra Señora de El Cueto.
