Diócesis de Valencia celebrates XXV Aniversario of beatification of mártires valencianos

The Diocese of Valencia began commemorations for the 25th anniversary of the beatification of the Valencian martyrs with a colloquium on religious persecution in Spain during the 1930s. Organized by the Vicariate of Evangelization and the Delegation for the Causes of Saints, the event included historians, religious congregations, priests, and family members of the martyrs.

During the discussion, Bishop Juan Antonio Martínez Camino of Madrid stated that the martyrdom of Christians was the most significant event in the history of the Church during the 20th century. He noted that the 20th century produced more martyrs than all previous Church history combined and suggested that honoring these witnesses provides the Church with evangelizing vigor.

The anniversary events will conclude on Sunday, September 27, with a thanksgiving Mass at the Valencia Cathedral.
