Bishop of Funchal appoints new youth pastoral secretariat team

Bishop Nuno Brás has appointed a new team to lead the Diocesan Youth Pastoral Secretariat in Funchal for a three-year term. The appointment was announced in a decree released by the diocese on Thursday, October 30, 2026.

In the decree, Bishop Brás stated that the reception of the Eucharist and Confirmation should not be viewed as the end of Christian growth. He noted that young people require continued accompaniment through different methods and rhythms. The bishop expressed the need to help young Christians increase their knowledge of Christ and the Church while encouraging their active participation in various communities, particularly through charitable works.

The new team is tasked with providing spiritual accompaniment and assisting youth with vocational discernment throughout their youth.
