Thousands join São José de Ribamar pilgrimage in Maranhão
First source report
Thousands of pilgrims participated in the Grande Romaria Caminho de São José de Ribamar on Saturday, September 19, in Maranhão. The procession followed the MA-201 highway to honor Saint Joseph of Ribamar, the patron saint of the state.
The pilgrimage included eight prayer stations along the route. At each stop, participants paused for approximately ten minutes to reflect on the life, humility, work, and protection of the Holy Family provided by Saint Joseph.
The event coincided with the official feast day of Saint Joseph of Ribamar. The date of September 19 is recognized as both a state and municipal holiday in Maranhão through legal decrees established in 2017.
