Lebanese faithful to walk to St. Charbel shrine in prayer for Christians in south of country
First source report
Lebanese faithful will participate in a prayer walk from Byblos to Annaya to support Christian communities in southern Lebanon. The pilgrimage, scheduled for Sept. 26, intends to offer prayers for families in border towns such as Rmeich, Ain Ebel, and Debel who have chosen to remain in their villages despite the dangers of war.
Organizer Anthony Jarjour, a native of Rmeich, told ACI MENA that the walk seeks to unite prayers for those staying steadfast in the south. Jarjour noted that some people are unaware that families continue to live in these border villages, effectively safeguarding the country's borders through their presence.
Due to road closures, Jarjour is beginning a separate journey on Tuesday, Sept. 22, starting from Tyre. He will walk approximately 93 miles to reach Annaya by Saturday to join the conclusion of the pilgrimage at the shrine of St. Charbel. This follows a similar pilgrimage Jarjour organized last year, when he walked 112 miles from Rmeich to Annaya to pray for those killed in traffic accidents.
