Priest Luciano Ferrari dies at age 96

Father Luciano Ferrari died at the age of 96 on Friday, October 30, at the Casa del Clero in Carpi. He was the dean of the clergy in the Diocese of Carpi.

Ordained on June 29, 1954, by Bishop Artemio Prati, Ferrari served as pastor in Vallalta for 20 years beginning in 1962. He later served as chaplain for the Santa Maria Bianca Hospital in Mirandola and as spiritual assistant for the local nursing home. He also served as a diocesan delegate and a member of the Diocesan Pastoral Council. In 1994, he became rector of the Church of San Francesco in Mirandola, a position he held until the 2012 earthquake.
