Master of the Order appoints 5 friars to Spem Miram Internationalis board

Master of the Order Gerard Francisco Timoner III has appointed five friars to the board of Spem Miram Internationalis for a three year term from 2026 to 2029. The new members are Brother Juan Ubaldo López Salamanca, Brother Júlio Gonçalves Candeeiro, Brother Emmanuel Pisani, Brother Nicolas Tixier, and Brother Pablo Condrac. Brother Juan Ubaldo will continue as the president of the board.

Spem Miram Internationalis manages solidarity funds to support the formation of friars and various mission projects. The board reviews requests for financial assistance and recommends grants to the Master of the Order for final approval. These appointments follow the approval of updated statutes on July 17, 2026, which were created to meet a 2025 decision by the General Chapter of Krakow to unify solidarity rules within the Order. The updated rules prioritize funding for initial formation in economically weaker provinces, scholarships for further studies, and mission projects.

The board reviews grant applications twice a year during meetings in April and October. To apply for assistance, friars must submit requests that are endorsed by their relevant prior provincial.
