Author releases book on sobriety

Dr. Ken Craycraft is releasing a new book titled Staying Sober One Story at a Time: Seeking Sobriety Through the Lens of Literature through Scepter Publishers in early October.

In the book, Craycraft uses four novels to examine the causes of alcoholism by looking at the lives of alcoholic characters. The selected works are The Lost Weekend by Charles Jackson, Under the Volcano by Malcolm Lowry, Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh, and The Edge of Sadness by Edward O’Connor.

Craycraft connects the recovery from addiction to the development of moral habits and virtue. He specifically highlights the role of prudence, which he describes as the virtue that allows a person to apply other virtues correctly in specific circumstances.
