Pape en France - Entretien avec Mgr Ballot, archevêque-évêque de Metz

Pope Leo XIV will visit Metz on Monday, September 28, 2026, to deliver a speech on European roots, peace, and unity. During the fourth day of his apostolic journey through France, the Pope will also celebrate a mass for peace at Saint-Etienne Cathedral.

Bishop Philippe Ballot, the Archbishop of Metz, noted that the border region between France and Germany serves as a symbol of reconciliation and encounter. The area is also the home of Robert Schuman, one of the founding fathers of Europe.
