Parish in Cork suburb marks 50 years of its church

Bishop Fintan Gavin celebrated Mass at the Church of the Incarnation to mark the 50th anniversary of its dedication. The golden jubilee Mass took place in the Frankfield and Grange parish in a suburb of Cork.

The church was dedicated in 1976 to serve the growing city suburb. Architect Patrick McSweeney designed the building, which was constructed by P. J. Hegarty and Sons on land donated by Patrick McCarthy. Bishop Michael Murphy blessed the church in 1976, the same year he was ordained Coadjutor Bishop of Cork and Ross. During the jubilee Mass, Bishop Gavin noted that the church quickly became a busy center for the community.
