Parishioners in the Eastern Deanery unite in the first-ever Children’s Liturgy Ministers Network

Volunteers from three Sydney parishes met on 20 October for the first Children’s Liturgy Ministers Network meeting in the Eastern Deanery Southern Cluster. The gathering included ministers from the parishes of Malabar-Matraville, Botany, and Maroubra Bay Beach.

The network is one of three priorities identified through a collaboration between the parishes of the Eastern Deanery Southern Cluster and the Parish Renewal Team within the Sydney Centre for Evangelisation. The cluster also identified a need to collaborate on a faith formation event to prepare for Eucharist28.

During the meeting, ministers discussed methods for teaching the Gospel to young children. Mary-Rose Garcia, the catechist coordinator at St Mary and St Joseph in the Maroubra Bay Beach parish, said the meeting provided encouragement by allowing ministers to share the work of children's liturgy.
