The San Francesco parish in Termoli will present a new book about missionary bishop Corrado De Vito on Sunday, November 9, 2026. The volume, titled Corrado De Vito. A missionary bishop at the foot of the Himalayas, was written by Gabriella Paduano and published by Palladino Editore.

The presentation is scheduled for 16.30 and is part of the celebrations for the eighth centenary of the death of San Francesco d’Assisi. Speakers include the new parish priest, Gerardo Caruso, Monsignor Gabriele Tamilia, and the mayor of Provvidenti, Robert Caporicci. Rossana Vaudo will moderate the event.

The book provides the first organic history of De Vito, who was born in Provvidenti on March 21, 1904. De Vito served as the first Bishop of Lucknow, India, and participated in all sessions of the Second Vatican Council. His life included collaborations with Mother Teresa of Calcutta and a friendship with Padre Pio. In 1951, he founded the secular institute Le Ancelle dei Poveri to assist women and children.
