Patriarch Bartholomew I blesses new Byzantine icon of the Virgin

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Patriarch Bartholomew I blessed a new Byzantine icon of the Virgin at the shrine of Loreto on Monday, October 26. The icon is inspired by an ancient image preserved until 1400.

Papal delegate Archbishop Dal Cin said the image reminds the shrine of the origin of the Holy House and its ecumenical vocation. Patriarch Bartholomew I stated that the Mother of God is the creature in whom the economy of the Incarnation is accomplished in the concrete reality of history.
