Diocese of Padova restores San Massimo Chapel

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

The Diocese of Padova has restored the San Massimo Chapel located within the Episcopal Palace. The chapel was originally commissioned by Bishop Pietro Donato between 1390 and 1447 as part of his project to decorate the palace.

The restoration revealed previously unknown frescoes by Giovanni D’Alemagna. The Diocese stated that these paintings offer a new perspective on Venetian painting from that period. The chapel is dedicated to the second bishop of Padova.
