Archdiocese of Santa Cruz to open Missionary Month with Solemn Eucharist

The Archdiocese of Santa Cruz will open Missionary Month with a Solemn Eucharist at the Metropolitan Cathedral on Thursday, October 1, at 18:30. Archbishop René Leigue will preside over the Mass, which the Missions Commission expects to bring together families, parishes, missionary groups, and local communities.

The celebration coincides with the feast of Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús and marks the 100th anniversary of DOMUND (World Mission Sunday). The commission has invited members of missionary youth, missionary families, and parish missionary childhood and adolescent groups to participate.

The missionary month continues until October 18, when the Church will celebrate DOMUND 2026. This annual day was established in 1926 to encourage missionary responsibility among the baptized.
