St George’s musical to be staged at St Peter’s Parish
First source report
St Peter’s Parish in Surry Hills will host an original musical titled Courage: The Legend of St George and the Dragon from 8–11 October. The production is a collaboration between the parish and Bright Stars Production Company.
The musical explores the life of St George as a martyr and examines his relevance to modern Christians. Writer and director Brigid Viera said the story of the saint taking a stand for the truth during the third and fourth centuries is important for the faithful to consider during times of conflict and division. Viera noted that the production aims to show that acting with integrity is a simple but powerful way to leave a legacy.
Emelina Phillips plays the lead role of Sabra. Phillips said the character's faith in the face of evil has inspired her to trust in God while performing the challenging role.
