Nepal Nazareth Society brings clean water to Koshidekha
First source report
The Nepal Nazareth Society completed a water project in Koshidekha that provides potable water to more than 680 families. The project, which finished in December 2020, uses 4.5 km of newly laid pipe to transport water from the Sunkoshi River to the village located 300 meters above the river.
Project director Sister Aisha Kavalakattu reported that the system brings clean water to taps at the doorsteps of residents. Before the project, women spent nearly three hours walking to the river, often starting at 3 a.m. to collect water for cooking and daily use.
Kavalakattu noted that the access to clean water has improved health and hygiene for families. Children face fewer waterborne diseases and attend school more regularly, while women can use the time saved from fetching water to care for their families.
