Kenyan official urges Church in Africa to use moral authority for energy project consultation
aciafrica.org
A Kenyan government official has urged the Church in Africa to use its pastoral and moral authority to promote meaningful consultation with communities before mining projects are approved and implemented. The official, Ressa Kombi, made the call at a virtual meeting organized by the Laudato Si’ Unit of the Pan-African Catholic Theology and Pastoral Network. The Church’s influence could help bridge the gap between government policy and the concerns of communities affected by energy and mining projects.
