Laudato Si’ Unit Urges Shift from Colonial Mindset on Energy Politics

The Laudato Si’ Unit of the Pan-African Catholic Theology and Pastoral Network (PACTPAN) has called for a shift from a colonial mindset in energy politics. The unit's coordinator, Fr. Peter Chikere, said the challenge in transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy is not technology but the colonial mindset. He warned that Africa risks reproducing historical patterns of dependency if it continues to export raw materials while importing technologies and finished products derived from them.
