Pope Leo XIV updates rules for Eastern Catholic Churches

Pope Leo XIV has issued a motu proprio, "Mutua concordia", granting Eastern Catholic synods the authority to remove patriarchs. The synods can remove a patriarch if communion between the church's head and synod has been seriously and irreparably damaged. The decision requires a two-thirds majority and the Pope's approval.
