History

Erected in 1842 with its episcopal see at Sydney, New South Wales, the Archdiocese of Sydney (Latin: Archidioecesis Sydneyensis) is a Latin Church territory of the Catholic Church. As metropolitan see it presides over the suffragan dioceses of Armidale, Bathurst, Broken Bay, Lismore, Maitland-Newcastle, Parramatta, Wagga Wagga, Wilcannia-Forbes and Wollongong.
