The Diocese of Kaohsiung is a Latin Catholic diocese in southern Taiwan, raised to a full diocese in 1961, seated at the Holy Rosary Cathedral. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Taipei and has been led by Bishop Peter Liu Cheng-chung, who holds the personal title of archbishop, since 2006.

History
No Catholic ecclesiastical territory on the island of Taiwan is older than the Diocese of Kaohsiung (Lat: Dioecesis Kaohsiungensis), a Latin Church diocese that began in 1913 as the Apostolic Prefecture of the Island of Formosa. Renamed the Apostolic Prefecture of Kaohsiung in 1949, it was raised to a full diocese in 1961 and became a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Taipei. Peter Liu Cheng-chung, appointed in January 2006, is the current bishop; in November 2009 Pope Benedict XVI granted him the personal ("ad personam") title of archbishop.
