History

The Diocese of Lutsk traces back to the 13th century, when it was first established as the diocese of Luceoria (Latin) or Łuck (Polish). Following Napoleon's victory it was united with the Diocese of Zhytomyr as the diocese of Lutzk-Zhitomir-Kamenetz, which stood as a suffragan see of the Archdiocese of Mohilev between 1798 and 1925. The diocese of Lutsk was restored in 1925, at which point the Diocese of Zhytomyr again became separate.
