Pope Leo XIV celebrates Vespers at Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV celebrated Vespers with bishops, priests, deacons, consecrated men and women, and seminarians at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris on September 25, 2026.

During the service, the Pope noted that seven years had passed since the cathedral was destroyed by a major fire. He stated that the collective effort to rebuild the cathedral and the resulting splendor show that the site serves as a vital center for civilization where the past and future meet. He added that the restoration, supported by public, private, and Church institutions, helps reactivate the cultural and spiritual paths the cathedral offers to visitors.
