Bishop Vitorino Soares meets with Algarve Diocesan Youth Council

Bishop Vitorino Soares met with the Algarve Diocesan Youth Council on October 24 at the São José Seminary in Faro.

During the meeting, Bishop Soares proposed that the council members adopt the virtues of humility, gentleness, and patience in their work and Christian lives. He described humility as recognizing one's true self without placing oneself above others to promote closeness and avoid exclusion. He defined gentleness as the ability to build peaceful relationships without violence or aggression to foster unity. He presented patience as the virtue that allows for perseverance through difficulties, errors, and failures.

The bishop encouraged the youth to use these virtues to support the council's work and pastoral action within their local communities. The Diocesan Youth Council serves as a meeting point for young people from parishes and ecclesial movements to engage in listening, reflection, and discernment.
