Pope Leo XIV defended the value of human life during a Mass at the Lourdes sanctuary on Sunday, September 27. Speaking to approximately 150,000 pilgrims at the Pradera del santuario de Lourdes, the pope described the Massabielle grotto as a sanctuary of Christian hope.

In his homily, Pope Leo XIV addressed movements that seek to redefine the value of life in the context of illness, suffering, or old age. He called for a conversion that he described as both tender and urgent, stating that at the sanctuary, no fragility is rejected.
