Archdiocese of Lima postpones meeting on Pope Leo XIV's visit

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

The Archdiocese of Lima postponed its second preparatory meeting for the upcoming visit of Pope Leo XIV to Peru. Auxiliary Bishop Guillermo Elías Millares, the general coordinator for the papal visit commission, communicated the decision on October 13.

Bishop Millares stated the postponement comes as the Church joins others in praying for the Pope's recovery following surgery and a diagnosis of lung cancer. The organizing commission and its subcommittees will continue coordinating activities for the visit in Lima and will announce a new meeting date later.

The Archdiocese invited parishes, pastoral communities, and other groups to observe a day of prayer for the Pope on Wednesday, October 14. The commission also plans to share a specific prayer for use during liturgical celebrations and community gatherings.
