Archdiocese of São José do Rio Preto begins missionary mission in Tanzania

Sister Hozana Alves de Souza and Father Edvaldo Rosário Calazans will travel to Tanzania from November 2 to 19. The missionaries from the Archdiocese of São José do Rio Preto will stay at the diocesan orphanage in the Diocese of Bunda. They will be accompanied by the Irmãs Pequenas Missionárias Eucarísticas and the Fraternidade Missionária São Francisco de Assis na Providência de Deus, under the responsibility of Afonso.

The orphanage houses 80 children and adolescents between the ages of 0 and 16. Among them are 16 individuals with albinism who face risks of violence and social vulnerability, as well as vision difficulties. The mission aims to observe local conditions, build relationships, and assist with the evangelization and social work of the religious communities.

The visit seeks to create a network of solidarity between the two churches. One goal is to connect the children at the orphanage with adolescents from the Archdiocese of São José do Rio Preto who are preparing for Confirmation in 2027 to foster sharing and understanding of different realities.
