Athletes of the Month – October 2026

The Catholic Star Herald named several student-athletes from diocesan schools as Athletes of the Month for October 2026.

Mike Coluzzi, a senior soccer player at Saint Augustine Preparatory School in Richland, became the ninth player in school history to score 50 career goals. As of October 28, Coluzzi had recorded 54 career goals, including 20 this season. He contributed two goals during a 2-1 victory against St. Peter’s Prep on October 3. The Saint Augustine Prep team held an 18-2 record through October 28.

Ava Griffin, a senior goaltender for the Bishop Eustace Preparatory School girls soccer team in Pennsauken, surpassed 100 saves this season during October. Griffin recorded six saves in a tie against Lenape and made five saves each in games against Notre Dame and Camden Catholic. She recorded 10 saves in a match against Paul VI on October 19 and is approaching 250 career saves.
