Cáritas Asturias launches campaign for people without homes

Cáritas Asturias is conducting a campaign for people without homes in collaboration with the Cocina Económica de Gijón. The campaign uses the slogan that a home is more than a place to live, but a place to belong.

Zoraida Sienra, who manages the Cáritas Asturias Homeless Program, reported that the diocesan branch of Cáritas Oviedo assisted 1,789 people without homes in 2025. This figure represents a 10% increase from the previous year.

Sienra noted that the population includes people who have lived on the streets for a long time and those who have recently entered this situation. She identified recent arrivals as often being young people leaving youth protection centers upon reaching adulthood or individuals with precarious jobs who cannot afford housing.
