Cardenal Carlos Castillo gives thanks for Pope Leo XIV's health

Cardinal Carlos Castillo thanked God for the recovery of Pope Leo XIV during a mass held outside the Sanctuary of Las Nazarenas. The Archbishop of Lima described the Pope's healing as a miracle and a sign of God's presence.

Pope Leo XIV was recently discharged from Gemelli Hospital following surgery to remove the lower lobe of his right lung to treat an adenocarcinoma.

During the celebration, which included the apostolic nuncio to Peru, Monsignor Paolo Rocco Gualtieri, and Bishop Jorge Izaguirre of Chosica, Castillo called on the faithful to reject the worship of money. He stated that peace is achieved through mutual organization, agreement, and respectful treatment rather than through threats or impositions.
