Catholic Communicators in West Africa Urged to Master New Technologies, Strengthen Regional Cooperation
First source report
Catholic communicators in West Africa are participating in a regional training workshop in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, to learn new technologies and improve cooperation across language barriers. The workshop, organized by the Regional Episcopal Conference of West Africa (RECOWA/CERAO), began on Tuesday, October 13, at the RECOWA Centre for Pastoral Work and Mission and is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, October 15.
The training seeks to improve information sharing and collaboration among Catholic communication services to increase the visibility of the Church throughout the region. Fr. Hubert Kedowidé, the principal coordinator of the training, stated that communication officers must develop technological skills that meet the changing needs of evangelization and help convey both the Gospel and the social doctrine of the Church.
Fr. Hervé Djézou, the communication officer for the Episcopal Conference of Ivory Coast (CECCI), spoke on behalf of Ignace Cardinal Bessi Dogbo of the Abidjan Archdiocese. He encouraged participants to use effective communication tools and coordination mechanisms to increase the effectiveness and presence of the Church. The gathering follows a resolution made during the fourth plenar of RECOWA.
