Archdiocese of Newark to hold Memorial Concert

The Archdiocese of Newark will host a memorial concert titled Requiem by Maurice Duruflé on November 1, 2026, at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Presented by Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Newark, the event honors the faithfully departed in observance of Cemetery Sunday.

The concert begins at 3:00 p.m. and features the Cathedral Choir, soloists, and an orchestra conducted by John J. Miller. Chung A Hong will play the organ, with Jorge Ocasio performing as bass-baritone and Eunjoo Lee-Huls as mezzo soprano. Before the music, Anita Foley will lead a pre-concert reflection for the bereaved at 2:20 p.m. in the Lady Chapel.

Attendees may inscribe the names of deceased loved ones in the Book of Remembrance when entering the cathedral. Admission is free, though the organizers will accept a free-will offering. No tickets are required for the performance.
