Chicago students send Pope Leo XIV care package

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Students at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy in Chicago are preparing a care package for Pope Leo XIV to wish him well following lung cancer surgery. The package includes get-well cards and a Chicago White Sox blanket.

The students belong to Team 14, a 40-member group named after the pope that conducts prayer sessions and service projects, such as food drives. Some members of the group previously traveled to Rome to meet the pope.

Pope Leo XIV underwent surgery at Gemelli Hospital on Oct. 13 to remove the lower lobe of his right lung. The Holy See Press Office stated on Oct. 14 that the pope's postoperative recovery is progressing normally following scheduled blood tests and a chest X-ray.
