Coetus Internationalis Summorum Pontificum clarifies restrictions on Schneider's Mass at Santa Maria Maggiore

Organizers of the Ad Petri Sedem pilgrimage clarified that the conditions for the Mass celebrated by Bishop Athanasius Schneider at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore on Saturday, October 24, were agreed upon in advance. The statement from the Coetus Internationalis Summorum Pontificum contradicts reports that the celebration underwent last-minute modifications.

Christian Marquant, president of the Coetus, stated that the Mass was scheduled as a prelatic Mass lasting between 60 and 90 minutes. This duration and the specific manner of celebration were established to accommodate the basilica's logistical needs and the large number of people expected to receive communion. The organizers also noted that rules for photography and audiovisual recording followed the standard regulations of the basilica.

The Coetus expressed thanks to Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas, the archpriest of Santa Maria Maggiore, and Monsignor Ivan Ricupero, the master of liturgical celebrations, for their cooperation and hospitality during the event.
