Commemoration of all the faithful departed

Bishop Vito of the Diocese of Rieti–San Salvatore Maggiore shared reflections for the commemoration of all the faithful departed on November 2. He encouraged the faithful to offer prayers and works of charity for the deceased to find eternal joy in God.

The bishop expressed sympathy for those grieving the loss of loved ones, including parents who have lost children. He also extended his thoughts to those who die without being mourned and to victims of barbaric killings. He noted that while grief remains, faith in the risen Christ provides a hope that life is transformed rather than taken away.

The Diocese of Milano provided liturgical resources for the commemoration, including readings from the books of Maccabees and the letter to the Romans. These resources included a prayer asking God to allow the deceased to contemplate God as Creator and Father.
