Bishop Sérgio Aparecido Colombo launched the fifth diocesan pastoral plan for 2026 to 2032

Bishop Sérgio Aparecido Colombo presented the fifth diocesan pastoral plan for 2026 to 2032 to priests during a clergy update meeting on October 27 in Bragança Paulista. The document, which the bishop promulgated on August 4, 2026, will be distributed to all parishes to guide evangelization efforts among communities, pastoral groups, and movements.

The plan resulted from a three-stage process of listening and discernment involving parishes, regional assemblies, and the diocesan pastoral assembly. Father Alexandre Oliveira Nascimento, the diocesan pastoral coordinator, coordinated the development of the document. The plan follows the general guidelines for evangelization in the Church in Brazil for 2026 to 2032.

The document emphasizes the formation of missionary disciples, the participation of laypeople, and a preferential option for the poor. It uses the biblical image of a tent to describe a welcoming and open Church.
