Diocese of Málaga to offer course for extraordinary ministers of communion

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

The Diocese of Málaga is hosting a training course for extraordinary ministers of communion at the Casa Diocesana de Espiritualidad. The program is open to laypeople, religious men and women who currently serve in parishes, chaplaincies, institutions, brotherhoods, or movements, as well as those interested in the ministry in the future.

Liturgy delegate Alejandro Pérez stated in a convocation letter that the course addresses the specific technical and formative needs of those performing this liturgical service. While registration is free and open to all, Pérez noted that completing the course does not grant an automatic right to serve. Instead, parish priests, chaplains, or institutional superiors retain the authority to decide who is selected as a minister.

Interested participants can register online or at the Bishop's office until October 28. During the two-day event, the diocese will also sell official medals for extraordinary ministers to wear when bringing communion to the sick.
