Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV blessed 3-year-old Olivia Hamelin during his visit to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes on Sept. 27. Olivia has CDKL5 deficiency disorder, a rare genetic neurological condition.

The blessing occurred as the pope approached the Accueil Notre-Dame, a residential healthcare facility for sick and disabled pilgrims, following a meeting with 5,000 patients and caregivers. Olivia's father, Alexandre Hamelin, said the blessing provided his family with strength and hope for her future.
