El latido de Europa no se encierra en moldes: la receta de León XIV desde Metz para evitar que la unidad sea uniformidad

Pope Leo XIV warned that Europe's peace and survival depend on harmonizing diverse identities rather than imposing a single model. Speaking at Saint-Étienne Cathedral in Metz, the Pope concluded his pastoral visit to France by presiding over an Eucharist attended by thousands of faithful.

During his homily, the Pope stated that true unity among nations does not come from erasing national, cultural, or historical differences. He suggested that European integration should function like a mosaic or a polyphony rather than a military barracks. Leo XIV argued that differences are the necessary material for building lasting peace and cautioned against the risk of a gray uniformity. He noted that the continent's future relies on looking beyond individual interests without falling into total homogenization.
